Some of the finds from yesterday's hunt with my little buddy. She found all the glass. This is a spot that I have hit 5 times each time something nice is coming out of it..I will posting a more in depth blog about the hunt and location..
I can't tell you how long I have wanted this machine.. Specifically for relic field hunting. I love my other detectors, but this is one that I wanted use in the plowed fields near some of my relic spots. One in particular has been hard hit for over 50 years now.
I learned one thing about this machine is when you are relic hunting and the signal repeats you had better dig it!... I'm really liking this machine for relic hunting and am in the process of getting more property to hunt. Hope you enjoy!
I had to run to town to pickup a few things and the bug was biting me. I had the Deus in the back seat so I looked for a spot to hit. I went over to a house that was built in 1897, unfortunately it burned down around 8 years ago. I had skipped over this spot because of all the old pipes and junk metal left there on the ground.
Most of the targets were either near the surface or under 5 inches.
Here is a list of the finds as they came.. lol sorry nothing exciting.. just a quick hunt.
Robo99 came up to Oklahoma today to do a little detecting.. We were really coinhunting and he had a great find, but I ended up finding more relics than coins. He brought the SE and had coil issues so he used my E-Trac coil to test. I used the Deus. We hunted one spot that was a waste of time. I did manage a 42 wheat but, a few clad was it. So we moved to a spot where I had done really well last year and hit the backyard. After hunting there all day, I think that someone had cherry picked it before us but, we still came out with some goods..
My first find of the yard was this pocket watch or stopwatch.
I found another wheat and it was a 1919.
I found 3 nickels, a 41 Jeff, and two no date buffs.
While Robo was making his find of the day, I had a large piece of iron that was covering a lot of area so I wanted to dig it up to make sure there wasn’t any good targets being covered by it.. It has to be my biggest cool relic in a while..
This thing measures 16 1/2 inches from tip to blade end…
and the blade length was 5 1/2 inches. This thing is massive
There is and interesting story from the early days of Durant. Just across the street from where we were at was the scene of a grizzly murder. A Jewish's couple's daughter was murdered in the house. The killer(s) left the scene, and fled down the street and headed to a house that was being built at the time. The workers the next day found a set of bloody clothes in what was then the basement. The mother was so distraught that she burned her home down, and it was later rebuilt. Now I don't know if they know what the murder weapon was or if it was found.. The yard I found it in was an orchard at the time and no house sat there..Due to the rust and the way it the cleaver was broke down I would think it had been in the ground for quite a while, possibly at the time of the murder....
After finding that, I found several other relics, including this pocket watch back(doesn’t fit the other).
Also a piece of Durant’s history with this token….Robo99 said this explained the bankers hours saying.. they usually work till about 10 then go home..lol
And this cub scout button
We had fun didn’t find alot of coins, but some good laughs and am ready to hunt again… Hope you enjoyed the read..
Started out this week with a night hunt with my good friend Dave. We were both swinging the Minelab E-Tracs. We headed out to Texoma Lake to hunt an old store.
Took the E-Trac out today to try and find a little silver and shoot a vid with the new camera… I hit several old houses that I had never hunted before.. Fill had had his way with two of the yards and I only found modern clad and junk… I moved around on one yard to where the landscaper hadn’t gotten to it.
Last month, Garrett's lead man Steve Moore and Cameraman Brian McKenzie had been coming up mid week, to film video of us using the new AT Gold and AT Pro. We had an awesome hunt for the first video. Several buttons were found along with a cannon ball.
